Band Camp

2022 Bainbridge High School Band Fall Schedule

 

First Year Members and Freshmen Band Camp will be Tuesday-Thursday, July 19th through July 21stThe hours will be from 8:00 A.M. until 11:30 A.M.  The location will be the BHS band room and Practice Field.  You should wear shorts and tennis shoes with socks.  Also bring your instrument if you play one.  If you have never marched with the Bearcat Band, this camp is Mandatory!! 

Dance Line and Color Guard Camp will be held the week of July 18th  through July 22nd.  The hours will be 8:00 A.M. – 11:30 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. each day.  Location will be the BHS band room for instructions.  These camps are mandatory for you to participate with the BHS Marching Band!

Percussion Camp will be held the week of July 18th through July 22nd. The hours will be 8:00 – 11:30 and 1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. Report to the BHS bandroom the first day.  Percussion camp is mandatory for all percussionist!!

  • Full Band Music Rehearsal and Marching & Manuevering – July 21th8:00-12:00

Full Band Camp will be July 25th – July 28th and August 1st – Aug 4th.  The hours will be 8:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. each day.  Some afternoons will be used for section rehearsals.  Fridays are free!!  Parent & Friends night will be Thursday, August 1st at the BHS Track Field.

YOU MUST BE PRESENT AT ALL OF YOUR CAMPS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MARCHING BAND. (Should a question or problem arise, consult with a director BEFORE your camp!)  You will need to arrange your plans to make your purchases of school supplies and clothes accordingly.  Not during your camps.

If you need a place to stay during your free time at band camp, please let us know so that we can help you find a place to stay (rather than just hanging around the school).

**SCHOOL BEGINS AUGUST 10TH AND THE FIRST BALL GAME IS FRIDAY, AUGUST 19th!  

 

THE UNIFORM RENTAL FEE IS $75 for playing members.  This fee is due before receiving your uniform, which will be issued during band camp.  If you need band shoes and gloves, we will take orders for them during camp.  Band shoes are approximately $41.00.  Colorguard shoes are also approximately $36.00. Students have a choice of the type of glove they use.  Plain cotton gloves are $2.50 per pair.  Sure grip gloves are $3.00 per pair.  The gloves for Colorguard members are sure grip and are $4.50 per pair.  Sure grip gloves with Velcro are about $4.50 per pair.  An option for Flutes and Clarinets is a nylon half finger glove.  They are 3.00 per pair.  It usually does not take a long time to be fitted for shoes and gloves.  Allow 20 to 30 minutes if you are not first in line.  Checks or cash for these items will be accepted. 

A crew style sock is required for instrument players!  Ankle socks are not acceptable! 

 

The shoe man will be here on Thursday, July 21st at 10:30 a.m.

Your GRADE for band will be determined by your Attendance, Attitude, Promptness and Performance in both playing and marching.  This includes rehearsals and performances.

YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO ATTEND ALL PERFORMANCES AND FUNCTIONS OF THE MARCHING BAND.  NO EXCEPTIONS!

We will have practice Tuesday, August 9th – 6:30-8:30

 

We may take our full band picture on Wednesday, August 10th for the Football Program and Yearbook.

The practice schedule once school begins is as follows:  Begins Thursday, August 11th!!!!

 

Some days we will have only certain sections of the band come to after school practice in order to really clean up the drill and music.

  • Contest dates at this time could be any weekend from late September through mid October!! Attendance for contest performances is required!!  But we will be going to a festival or contest.
  • ALL STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND ALL PLAY OFF GAMES! Play offs begin on Nov. 15th!
  • Parade practice for Philadelphia will begin on October 29th.
  • We MAY go to the Peanut Festival Parade in Dothan, AL on November 9th as a warm-up for Philly.
